Fartyget levererades som &#8221;Truno City&#8221; av Sunderland S.B. Co. i Sunderland, till C.W. Furness i Hartlepool 1889. Rederiet <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9349 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/sandbox.kvalevaag.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Ernst_Mengersen_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"150\" \/>Kvilhaug i Haugesund tog \u00f6ver fartyget 1933.<br \/>\nD\/S Bisp l\u00e4mnade Sunderland med kol den 20 januari 1940 och f\u00f6rsvann sp\u00e5rl\u00f6st p\u00e5 v\u00e4g till \u00c5ndalsnes. Fartyget torpederades den 23 januari 1940 av den tyska ub\u00e5ten U-18 med bef\u00e4lhavaren, Korvettenkapit\u00e4n Ernst Mengersen, i Nordsj\u00f6n.<\/p>\n<p>Klockan var strax \u00f6ver sju p\u00e5 morgonen den 23 januari 1940 d\u00e5 Ernst Mengersen beordrade att en G7e-torped skulle avfyras mot ett \u201dlitet \u00e5ngfartyg\u201d. Strax efter\u00e5t observerades en tr\u00e4ff p\u00e5 styrbords sida n\u00e4ra bryggan. D\/S Bisp sj\u00f6nk inom 40 sekunder cirka 100 miles sydost om Shetlands\u00f6arna. U-b\u00e5ten hade uppt\u00e4ckt fartyget redan klockan fem p\u00e5 morgonen men missade henne med en f\u00f6rsta torped strax f\u00f6re klockan sju. Dess offer var med stor sannolikhet den neutrala D\/S Bisp som f\u00e4rdades utan eskort som rapporterades saknad p\u00e5 v\u00e4g fr\u00e5n Storbritannien till Norge.
